High Performance Magazine(HPM) Facility

The High Performance Magazine site was originally constructed for a hazardous debris test of an explosive storage magazine. Other tests have included NATO testing of one-quarter-scale aircraft shelters and scaled structure experiments requiring a large recovery area. Curtain wall reaction testing is also conducted at the HPM site.

The site is equipped with two 5 degree, 500 foot long recovery radials located at right angles, and AC power transformers on the radials and at ground zero. The site has a 200 foot radius recovery area behind ground zero and a 500 foot recovery area in front of ground zero.

Personnel are able to observe tests from the personnel bunker, located 1,100 feet from ground zero. The bunker itself is equipped with its own uninterruptable power supply (UPS).
